The Millhouse Hotel in Swallowfield was the venue for Sarah and Micka’s winter wedding. Micka is from Madagascar and I have to admit it was my first ever Anglo-Madagascan wedding :) The bride and groom have a beautiful baby boy called Oliver. It’s always lovely to photograph weddings knowing that babies and young children who won’t remember the day itself, get to relive their parents wedding day when they are old enough to appreciate it.
I was so pleased for Sarah and Micka that the day was bright and the rain held off for them. This was just as well as Sarah headed from her home in Spencers Wood to the Millhouse Hotel in Swallowfield in a carriage supplied by Haydn Webb from just up the road.
The day was great; it was wonderful to see so many of the couples friends from all over the world. Sarah had travelled quite extensively during her PhD studies and met Micka when she arrived in Madagascar following a stay in Mongolia. The entertainment in the evening comprised fire performers and sparklers for the guests – it wasn’t quite Mongolian temperatures at the back of the hotel, but close :)
Micka managed to get to the UK just in time for the birth of Oliver, followed of course quite quickly by the wedding. It must have been a bit of a shock coming from an island in the Indian ocean to chilly Berkshire but he, like Sarah, was in great spirits for the day and it was a pleasure for me to be there on the day.
Here are some of my favourite photographs of the day and I also made a Wedding Story slideshow as well.
