As a Reading wedding photographer I photograph surprisingly few weddings in the town of Reading itself; I normally work at hotels, bespoke wedding venues and other great locations out of the town itself. It was a pleasure today to be at Reading Town Hall for the wedding of Steph and Steve. I first met the couple at Natalie and Nicks’s Pangbourne wedding and they originally booked me for their wedding a while back. That was cancelled (guess why) and rescheduled (twice) and finally today happened!
I can only imagine the sense of relief (for all Covid postponement couples) at eventually being able to tie the knot. It was a beautiful day as I headed down the leafy, winding lanes of West Berkshire to the little town of Yattendon. The Royal Oak was the venue for the wedding celebrations as well as the location for Steph and the girls to get ready. It’s a beautiful little pub with a formidable culinary reputation and although the photography finished just before the meal started I could see the wedding party were in for a treat.
Reading Town Hall is a busy register office and it’s always an interesting place to get married. The rooms are great and you make way through the ground floor of Reading museum on your way the nuptials.
Steph had organised a surprise wedding car for Steve which was great – better than getting a cab :) Back at the pub Steph and Steve and their small but select group of family and friends had a great time in the sunshine. We took a short walk around the village for some bride and groom wedding portraits and the afternoon disappeared all too quickly.
Thanks again for having me along S&S! Here’s a few favourites from the day.
