An Intimate Spring Wedding near Swallowfield in Berkshire.
I first met Leigh and Dave a few months ago, we’d swapped emails and they had come to visit me at my studio to chat about the wedding. They’re a lovely couple, it was the second time around for both of them and it was clear during the wedding that they’d found the love of their lives. For some of us, that might take a while but all that matter is that you get there in the end. I could see on the wedding day that they were really good friends as well and it was terrific to be there to photograph the day.
A small wedding
It was a small wedding, just close family and friends attending. The atmosphere at this kind of celebration is always more intimate and cosy. The late spring weather was bright and breezy and it was nice to get outside for the family photography. The Millhouse Hotel is small but has a really nice garden alongside the River Loddon. After the family photography Leigh, Dave and I took a walk through the gardens for some bride and groom portraits. This part of the wedding photography is nice for my couples – a break from the limelight and a chance to be together with each other.
My day finished not long after the serving of afternoon tea which looked great. I was only with the couple for a short time but I’m really pleased with the photographs which I am sure they will come to treasure in the years ahead.
A Motorcycle Honeymoon
Leigh and Dave are off on honeymoon to the West Coast of the U.S.A. and part of their trip involves hiring motorcycles and touring the region – I’m super jealous!
I hope you have a great time Leigh and Dave – catch up with you when you get back.
This beautiful orange colour was the theme for todays wedding flowers.
Todays man of the moment – a quick portrait of Dave in the marriage room.
Upstairs, Leigh gets ready in the bridal suite.
Leigh’s custom nail job – just for Dave.
Time to go.
There’s nothing quite like that moment when you see each other for the first time.
Outside, the spring weather was just about perfect for drinks with the guests. A thumbs up by the way for matching drink and bouquet. I’ve only just noticed.
Afternoon tea was served at the wedding – a lovely sociable way of enjoying the afternoon.
We took a walk around the grounds of the Millhouse Hotel. Cool sky and a killer dress.
I noticed the couple taking a little walk by themselves later on and shot this image through the window of the hotel bar. Nice to have a few minutes to yourselves on the day.
Thanks again Leigh and Dave – I am sure the honeymoon will be amazing.
