Martin and I first met a few years ago and it was a pleasure to be asked to photograph his wedding to Liz today in Epping Forest near Loughton in Essex. Martin is a great guy and the couple were very laid back and relaxed. Martin and Liz have been together for a few years now and were blessed with baby Molly not too long ago. The wedding ceremony was held at the Church of the Holy Innocents in High Beach with the reception a few minutes walk away along a leafy road.
The reception was held in the Village Hall and there’s always something lovely about weddings where everyone chips in and the celebrations have a hand made feel to them. There were many unique touches to the wedding and the reception party that made the whole event special. The hall was decorated inside and out with a bar set up at the back and the ever popular hog roast and barbecue to feed all the friends and family who had turned out for the wedding.
My day started at the hotel with some of the bride’s family. Here are a few images that I liked from the day – the complete gallery will be coming soon. Drop me a line if you were at the wedding and I’ll let you know when all the images are available for viewing (the bride and groom get to see them first!)
Liz’s dress was made of a beautiful fabric, brought alive by the crystals and patterns.
Liz, today’s beautiful bride.
The groom’s mum and the brides sister. Not calling each other I hope.
Mum and Dad joined Liz and her sister Elaine for a quick photo before I headed off into the wilds of Epping Forest.
Martin and Molly.
The rain had thankfully fizzled out by now and the Best Lady and the Ushers joined Martin for a quick pre- ceremony portrait.
Time for Martin and Molly to go inside as Liz arrives at the church.
It’s always nice to see a full church.
The confetti featured large amounts of lavender – I still smell nice, two days after the wedding.
A lovely short walk through the forest to the reception.
Later, the bride and groom and I returned to the empty church yard for some wedding portraits.
The lovely Liz.
Some favourite reception shots of the family and friends.
Lots of speeches today!
A terrific Ceilidh band provided the entertainment – this is always great fun at weddings and it’s a wonderful way of getting everyone involved. Can be dangerous to photograph though :)
All too soon, the cake cut came at the end of the evening.
Thanks again Liz and Martin – see you soon!
Thank you so much Simon, the photo’s are absolutely fantastic. They took our breath away and captured all the fun moments and emotions of our wedding. Martin promises he won’t hit you so hard now!!
