It was a great pleasure today to photograph Richard’s marriage to his lovely bride Laura at St. Michael’s Church in Tilehurst and on to a beautiful reception at the Runnymede Hotel near Egham in Surrey.
I first met Richard when I was photographing his sister’s wedding ten years ago in Newbury. A lot of my work comes from referrals and it’s always lovely to see familiar faces at weddings I attend. The day started at Laura and Rich’s house in Reading where Laura, her parents and Audrey the bridesmaid were getting ready.
I love telling the story of this part of the day. The actual experience of getting married is quite intense and it’s often difficult to remember what it was like on the morning of the wedding.
A lot of Laura’s family had come down from Glasgow for the celebrations and I know it’s always much appreciated when friends and loved ones travel distances to be a part of the wedding day.
There was rain in biblical proportions – but it was all alright in the end :) The sun came out after the ceremony and the Runnymede hotel proved to be a lovely place to spend the reception time.
Here are some favourite wedding photographs of the day and I can’t wait to show them to the bride and groom when they return from Santorini (I’m very jealous).
Thanks again Laura and Rich for being patient and happy to wander into head-height grass at the hotel :) See you soon.
The wedding had a beautiful (and unusual) orange colour theme. It looked great as you can see.
I love these photographs of Marion (mum) and Laura. The boys have it easy when they get dressed, eh?
Audrey did a sterling job helping Laura out.
Meanwhile at a nearby church…
Richard the groom arrives. Thanks for ditching the blue shoes Rich!
Yeah, definitely a bit damp out there.
I love Richard’s expressions…
The moment approaches…
It’s no fun for any bride to arrive in the rain but Laura was brilliant. The bride and groom didn’t let it bother them at all.
Rich’s sister Katherine did a wonderful reading.
Off to the Runnymede Hotel for the wedding reception. The bad weather had pretty much blown itself out on the journey from the church so we were all able to relax and enjoy the hotel and it’s grounds.
The beautiful bride.
Some favourite wedding reception photographs
The suite at the Runnymede is spacious and airy. The flowers were expertly created by Seventh Heaven events.
Some great speeches from Laura’s dad David, the groom himself of course and the stitching-up of the groom ably completed by best man Neil.
I do hope Reg forgives for this timeless portrait.
Time for the cake cut and dancing.
Rich demonstrates some moves that would shame James Brown.
Richard’s dad Dave – a legend on the dance floor. More stamina than all the twenty-somethings put together.
I hope the honeymoon is fantastic Laura and Rich and thanks again!
