Jenny and Chris’s Wedding at the Elvetham Hotel

What a great wedding at the beautiful Elvetham Hotel this weekend! It was a damp day but everyone had a great time. At this gloomy time of year it’s lovely to be inside with family and friends celebrating in the Elvetham’s bar. Jenny and Chris have been together a while now and together with their son Fraizer got married in the Oak Room at the hotel. Photographing a wedding at this time of year can be a challenge but it’s also very rewarding, capturing images of the day in very low light, mixed colours of lighting and of course, less than great weather. It was a really nice day though and I am pleased to post some favourite images of the day.

Tia the bridesmaid – very excited to be here :)

Little Fraizer, looking good in his morning suit.

Jenny gets ready.

Crayons and books – as useful to parents now as they were years ago.

Jenny’s dad John sees her for the first time in her dress.

Chris and boys arrive at the hotel.

Best Man Gareth joins Chris and Fraizer for a quick photograph before the ceremony starts.

I try and create story telling images all the time and I like how there’s lots of layers in the left hand photograph below. Starting with  John getting briefed by the registrar at the bottom of the image, Jenny receiving the same treatment, bridesmaids making final adjustments, Eric the toastmaster liaises with the Elvetham staff and a lady in a painting looks on at it all.

Yep, switching phones off is a good idea :)

Jenny says goodbye to her dad…

…and hello to her groom.

I had a great idea to head out into the grounds to photograph the bride and groom under umbrellas. Like many a great idea, it fell through as we realised the deluge was literally coming in sideways :( Luckily the Elvetham has some great interiors so it was lovely to use some of the rooms for portrait photographs of the bride and groom.

Rocking some good looking cufflinks.

Jenny and Chris take a moment to themselves before the wedding meal in the Library.

The couple had brought a number of framed photographs with them – all wedding photographs from years gone by, parents and grandparents etc. A really lovely idea.

Speech time :)

Chris limbers up for his wedding speech.

Fraizer gets a few words in…

Great pictures but why is there none of the disco. Was there any pics of the first dance?

Hello Ian, thanks for your question. The couple booked me up until the end of the meal. My pricing is flexible in that you can have me photograph the wedding for the time period that fits with your plan for the day. For what it’s worth, most couples book me up until the first dance and you can of course see plenty of examples of this on my other blog entries.
