A Buxted Park Wedding Album

It only seems five minutes ago that I was photographing a wedding at Buxted Park Hotel – Tom and Michelle got married there last year and we are at the stage now of finalising their album design. Here’s a couple of favourite spreads from their wedding book. The album itself is a 24″ x 12″ (open size) Art Album in black leather. Wedding photography supplied digitally is a wonderful thing and offers real flexibility but to my mind there is nothing like a beautifully designed and beautifully made wedding album.

The page below is the opening spread from the album. I always think it’s nice that people who weren’t at the wedding get a real idea of where it took place – naturally the album opening page shows the wedding venue itself. You can see on the left hand side we have used nine detail shots photographed in and around Buxted Park on the morning of the wedding. I love detail shots like these because I think it helps remind the couple of the venue and the day years or decades after the wedding.

Here’s another favourite wedding album spread from the day. It’s a good example of primary, secondary and supporting images from a wedding album design. The main image is Michelle leaving the room on her way to the marriage room. I like it because of the strong back lighting and also it’s a cool image because, like most brides, Michelle was probably feeling a little trepidant about the next half an hour and  I think it’s nice to have pictures in your album which remind you of how you felt on the day, even if that feeling was one of slight nerves :) On the right hand side, Tom the Groom waits in the marriage room. The little series of interconnecting shots help tell the story of that particular part of the wedding day.

The end of the album is another favourite page design. The first dance is a great place to close the wedding album. The smaller shots show some highlights leading up to the first dance. In the real album this double page is 24″ wide so those smaller pics are a good deal bigger than they are here.
